III. Основна частина уроку

А) Перевірка виконання домашнього завдання. Впр. 4, с. 129

Make your own list of 5 things you would hate to be without. Describe them. Mention some or all of the following;

What the object is.

Where / how / when / you got it.

What you can say about its color, size etc.

What you use it for.

Why it’s important to you

What memories are associated with it.

B) Впр. 1, с. 130 – look at the pictures and name the holidays. Classify the holidays into:

Religious / non-religious or political.

Holidays on which we have days off / those when we work.

Holidays celebrated in the family / those that are not.

Ukrainian / foreign holidays.

C) Впр. 1, c. 130 – a tradition is a way of doing something that existed for a longtime. Name some traditions.

Clothes

(everyday or holiday clothes, other things used)

Food (connected with holidays or most often used)

Activities (rituals done on holidays)

Number of people (celebrating at home or in big groups)

D) It is interesting to know. Do you know that…

– fashion advisers identify men’s figures with their specific vegetable silhouettes;

– parsnip – a man with wide shoulders and small hips;

– green bean – a tall and skinny man with long arms and legs;

– aubergine – a man with a narrow shoulder line and wide hips;

– potato – a man with a large stomach and short arms and legs.

E) Strategy with Guests (dialogue)

You don’t know what to do when a guest suddenly arrives that you don’t want to see?

Why don’t you try my plan?

What is your plan?

Well, when I hear the bell I put on my hat and coat. If it is someone I don’t want to see, I simply say, “So sorry but I am just leaving the house”. If it is someone I want to see I say, “How lucky I have just come in!”

F) The problem; When my sister and I clean our room, it gets dirty in the same day. Can you help? (Brittany G, New York)

Are you and your sister in the habit of making a big mess before it’s to pick up? If so; you might find it helpful to change this habit. When you are playing games, put away each game as you finish playing with it. Cleaning up is not such a big job if you pick up your things as you finish using them.

G) The 5 toughest questions women ask:

What are you thinking?

Do you love me?

Do I look fat?

Do you think she is prettier than me?

What would you do if I passed away?
