Extra detail, comment and background Information.
The Internet has recently become another important source of information. Its main advantage is that news appears on the screen as soon as things happen in real life.
My Attitude to Mass Media In the last decades the society has experienced a radical change due to the mass media appearance diverse.
Боте of the used systems of communication are press, radio, television, the Internet… At the moment thanks to these means, we enjoy good communication with people of other countries and also a great facility to obtain data on many subjects.
Media is the most powerful tool of communication. It helps promoting the right things on right time. It gives a real exposure to the mass audience about what is right or wrong. The role of mass media in the life of the present society is difficult to overestimate. Even though media is linked with spreading fake news like a fire, but on the safe side, it helps a lot to Inform us about the realities as well. In this or that form mass media come into every home.
Media has played an important role in order to focus on the social issues in almost every era. It is the fact that in most of the eras, media were not being given free and fair chances to explore the issues of society more openly than it is being given now; but we can’t deny this fact that the issues were always raised in order to provide justice to the people. To understand the meaning of mass media for the people it is necessary to consider their every aspect separately.
Newspapers are usually issued daily, weekly, or at other regular times. Newspapers come out to provide their readers with fresh news. Today people have a chance to have full information about Political. economic and cultural events in their own country and abroad.
Radio appeared earlier then TV. Radio has not lost its importance with the appearances of TV and the Internet. Today there are a lot of radio stations of many
Different types and so much variety. Talk shows and music programmes with disc jockeys are very popular.
Television plays an important role in our society, not only as an entertainer and Informant, but also because of the grip it has on many people. Television channels easily go into people’s home taking in their time and life.
The number of registered and re-registered mass-media in Ukraine, most of all in print, is growing dynamically. The elimination of state monopoly on information, which was the main goal at the beginning of the 1990-s, has been successfully completed.
Considerable progress has been made in integrating our country into the world’s information field. The Ukrainian government has been working with experts from the European Council as well as other international institutions to ensure the freedom of speech and activity of mass media in Ukraine. Such cooperation is fruitful for both parties, as our Government has the opportunity to use the extensive European experience in this sphere while the European community can objectively research the situation with the freedom of speech in Ukraine.
The Parliament of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada, is actively working on legislation in the information field, taking steps towards bringing it into accord with the requirements of international law. For instance, work has begun on the Information code of Ukraine; a draft of the new version of the Law of Ukraine “On Information” has been prepared within its framework. The work continues on the draft of the Law of Ukraine “On Mass Media” and other laws in this sphere.
Mass communicated media saturate the industrialized world. The television in the living room, the newspaper on the doorstep, the radio in the car, the computer at work, and the fliers in the mailbox are just a few of the media channels daily delivering advertisements, news, opinion, music, and other forms of mass communication.
The media have enormous importance to conflict resolution because they are the primary – and frequently only – source of information regarding conflicts. If a situation doesn’t make the news, it simply does not exist for most people.
Without the media, most people would know little of events beyond their immediate neighbourhood. The further one goes outside of one’s circle of friends and family, the more time-consuming and expensive it becomes to get information. Very few, if any individuals have the resources to stay independently informed of world events. With the news, however, all one has to do is turn on a television or turn to the Internet. Even when it is biased or limited, it is a picture of what is happening around the world.
Another important benefit of a functioning mass news media is that information can be relayed quickly in times of crisis. Tornado and hurricane announcement can give large populations advance warning and allow them to take precautions and move out of harm’s way. In a country suffering war, a radio broadcast outlining where the latest fighting is can alert people to areas to avoid. In quieter times, the media can publish other useful announcements, from traffic reports to how to avoid getting HIV. It is a stabilizing and civilizing force.

My Favourite TV Programme
The television (TV) is a part and a parcel of many households. Therefore, watching television is a culture of today’s modern society. It is a favourite past-time of many people, cutting across the culture, creed, gender and age. I must admit that I too enjoy “sitting glued” to the TV as mum often laments. Since I watch TV whole day long, I don’t blame mum. However, whenever I watch my favourite TV programme she doesn’t complain. In fact, she often its together to watch it, the “National Geographic”.
The “National Geographic” is a well – known documentary programme, focusing mainly on the ever-changing world, on Mother Earth and on nature and peoples and creatures that colour it with. Just the press of a switch and a button and “Hey Presto!”, the whole world is brought before me, for me to savour its beauty and wonders. Personally, I am often awed and – mazed with them.
I like this programme because it is very educational. It is a “window to the world”. By watching it, I can “travel”, “explore” and “discover” the four corners of the world. I have trekked up the highest peak and conquered Mt. Everest. I have dived down the deepest trenches. I have walked through the wilderness and been amongst the wild beasts, big and small. Thus, this programme has helped to expand my horizon and improve my knowledge and experience. I can proudly say I am no more a “frog in the well”.
I also enjoy watching the “National Geographic” because it is entertaining, interesting and stimulating. I never imagined that such an educational programme can be very enjoyable. I get a chance to enjoy the kaleidoscope of sights, sounds and colours of the world and its different peoples, all in the comfort of my own home.
In addition to that, this programme is of very high quality and it is produced by a team of experts, all are authorities in their own field of interest. The photographic footage is extremely breathtaking and inspiring. Besides, the narration is very accurate, informative, vivid and descriptive. Thus, I have never felt restless, distracted or bored watching this programme.
The National Geographic is my favourite programme as it has helped me to “grow” and “mature”. I have watched it since I was a seven-year-old innocent child. Now, I am more sensitive and aware of the world and Mother Earth. I learn to be more appreciative of Mother Earth and its beauty and wonders. I am more concern about the preservation and conservation of the world not only now but also for posterity. In short, the National Geographic has converted me into a more responsible citizen of the world and a caretaker of Mother Earth.
It is a touching and heart-warming TV programme and I will not hesitate to recommend it to others so that they too have a chance to savour amazing moments and appreciate and care for the one and only world we live in.
